John 16:33
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
It’s something many of us don’t say out loud… but quietly believe.
That if we follow God,
if we pray,
if we try to live right…
Then life should somehow fall into place.
Less struggle.
Less pain.
Less confusion.
Almost like faith should equal a smoother life.
But where did that idea come from?
Because when you look at the life of Jesus, it doesn’t reflect that at all.
He was misunderstood.
Rejected.
Betrayed.
He experienced pain, pressure, and suffering.
And if we are following Him… why would we expect a path that looks completely different?
The truth is, following Christ was never a promise of a perfect life.
It was an invitation into a different kind of life.
A life where you’re not alone in your struggles.
A life where there is purpose, even in pain.
A life where growth happens—not in comfort, but often through challenge.
But somewhere along the way, we can start to believe that struggle means we’re doing something wrong.
That if things aren’t working out,
if we’re facing difficulty,
if life feels heavy…
Then maybe our faith isn’t strong enough.
But that’s not true.
Struggle isn’t always a sign of failure.
Sometimes it’s part of the process.
Because faith doesn’t remove hardship—it reshapes how we walk through it.
It gives us strength when we feel weak.
Hope when things don’t make sense.
Peace that isn’t dependent on perfect circumstances.
And maybe that’s the shift we need.
Instead of asking,
“Why isn’t my life perfect?”
Maybe we ask,
“How is God meeting me in the middle of this?”
Because following Christ was never about arriving at a flawless life.
It was about walking with Him—through the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
So if your life doesn’t look perfect…
You’re not doing it wrong.
You’re walking a real, honest journey of faith.
And maybe that’s exactly where you’re meant to be.
