2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

The majority of Christians first come into contact with the Word of God at a young age, often through their parents. Because of this, it’s natural for us to base our views—how we judge people and situations—on our own understanding.
In Christianity, growth is meant to be transformational, not just informational. It’s not just about knowing more.
It’s about becoming different.
We often trust preachers on the pulpit because of their title and authority. We hang on to each word as they command the pulpit. Preaching the Word of God with power and certainty.
While this isn’t a bad thing, it can sometimes lead to Christians not expanding their own understanding. Instead, they rely only on what they’ve heard.
The Bible says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
This reminds us that while it is good to get what is preached, it’s also important to read and understand the Word for ourselves.
The same Bible we read is interpreted in different ways by different people—sometimes for good, and sometimes not—depending on understanding.
Reading the Bible for yourself is one of the most important ways to grow in your faith and deepen your relationship with God.
Remember, we are not of this world. We are called to be a burning and shining light.
If we rely only on a preacher’s interpretation, how can we expect to grow if we don’t seek understanding for ourselves?
We shouldn’t expect to see growth if we only engage with the Word during church services. Growth requires consistency. It can be uncomfortable, but there is beauty in it—and a powerful testimony on the other side.
There is nothing wrong with repeating what you’ve heard. Repeat it daily if you must.
But understand this…..
There will be moments when questions arise, and in those moments, your guide is already with you—in the Word.
Growth requires effort.
Start making that effort today.
